careers · small on purpose

Hiring slowly. Building deliberately.

We're not VC-funded. There's no board pushing growth-at-all-costs decisions. When you ask for a feature we ship more than once, we add a person. Not the other way around.

What we're hiring for.

Two roles open today. Both fully remote. UAE time zone preferred but flexible — async-first.

Founding customer engineer

● open remote · GMT+0 to +5 full-time $110k–$150k + equity

You answer support emails like an engineer because you are one. You ship the small fixes you'd normally hand to PM. You'll be the second technical hire — alongside Zeeshan — and your work will be the difference between a 6-hour and a 30-minute support reply.

Senior backend engineer · deliverability

● open remote · GMT+0 to +5 full-time $140k–$190k + equity

You own the deliverability stack: SMTP fleet, IMAP idle pool, DMARC parsing, blocklist monitoring, the auto-reconnect queue. You should know what an exponential backoff with jitter looks like in production and why 250 OK isn't the same as delivered.

Not hiring right now

No designer role, no head of growth, no sales team. Not because we don't value those — because we'd rather earn the right to hire them. If you think we're wrong, write a short note and we'll read it.

how we hire

Four steps. Two weeks.

No "culture fit" round, no take-home that's secretly free consulting, no panel with seven random people. Real conversations and one paid project.

01

Application + 15-min screen

You send a short email. Zeeshan reads it personally and replies within 3 business days. If we want to talk, we schedule 15 min that week.

→ within 3 days · 15 min
02

Deep-dive conversation

60 minutes with Zeeshan. We talk through your past work, the problems you're proud of solving, and what kind of work you want to do next. You ask anything about us. No trick questions.

→ within 1 week · 60 min
03

Paid project · 2–5 days

Real work from our backlog. Paid at your daily rate. If you're a developer, you'll ship a small feature to staging. If you're customer-facing, you'll handle real support tickets with us watching. We sign an NDA so nothing leaves the engagement.

→ paid at market day rate · async
04

Offer + reference calls

If both sides want to continue, we extend an offer with a written role description, comp band, and equity terms. You take 2 reference calls — we talk to people who've worked with you, you talk to two of our customers.

→ within 2 weeks total
how we work · what we expect

Four things you should know
before you apply.

Mechanism, not vibes.

We document how things actually work. The auto-reconnect timing is in the changelog. The accuracy numbers are in an internal eval doc. When something breaks, we name the cause. "It just feels off" is not a debug log entry.

Async by default.

3 hours of meetings per week, max. Most decisions happen in Linear / Notion / a long Slack thread. We expect you to write more than you talk, and to write things that survive being read 6 months later.

No 10x engineer mythology.

We hire calm operators who ship steadily. We don't have a "rockstar" track. We don't pay rockstars. We pay generously for senior people who close tickets, write tests, and don't break production at 11pm.

Time off is real.

4 weeks paid + national holidays + the days you're sick. We don't have an "unlimited PTO" policy because in practice that means zero. We track time off, we expect you to take it, and we don't email you on it.

compensation + benefits

The boring (real) details.

CashAbove-market for the role. Bands published in the role description. No negotiation games — same offer to everyone for the same role.
Equity0.1%–1.0% depending on level and timing. 4-year vest, 1-year cliff. Standard 90-day exercise window — we extend to 10 years if you've been with us 2+ years.
Time off4 weeks paid + your country's public holidays. Sick days don't count. Sabbatical of 1 month paid after 4 years.
Health$300/mo health stipend (we'll send it gross — you handle local insurance). UAE-based: full private coverage.
EquipmentMacBook Pro / Linux box, whatever you want. $1,000 home-office stipend, no receipts required.
Meet-upsTwice a year. Last one was Dubai (Jan) and Lisbon (May). Flights + hotel covered.

No portal, no algorithm. Just an email to [email protected]. We read every one.
